index | pics

For Sale!!!!! (4th dec 2006)

Sadly I have decided to sell my fiat 124 sport coupe, as I am currently working overseas and will not be returning to australia for some time.

Originally I thought I would be back in Australia early next year, so I have just had a whole lot of work done to the car for my expected return......

  • Its just come back from the panel beaters as I wanted another fresh coat of clear paint.
  • It has only traveled 3000 km's on the new engine.
  • As you can imagine I have spent thousands getting this car right $$$$, I have the receipts.
  • This car is perfect in every way, very fast and handles the way it should.
  • I am going to put it up for auction during dec/jan through shannon's.
  • Although if you would like to make me an offer in the meantime, feel free to do so offers around. $18,000.

The Car
This is the car a 1974 fiat 124 Sports Coupe cc model.

The car looks exactly like this but I have the wider Chromodora wheels 13x6 and have lowered it slightly by 30mm.

The restoration of this car has been a 3 year project and well worth it.

There is allot more content and images to go onto this page, but for now enjoy...

Exterior
Painting

First I took everything off the car and bagged it, make sure when bagging all the items you label them correctly, so you know where they all go when its time to put them back on the car.

Once this was done, I had the car completely stripped back to bare metal. Upon seeing the car stripped back I could see all the rust and previous attempts to repair. I made sure all the dents and rust where taken out, no filler was used, just cut and weld to make it a perfect job.

I kept the original colour a metallic silver, and used Glasurit Paint.

Bumper Bars
Replaced the front and rear bumpers bars with new old stock that I found in Melbourne, they where perfect and where cheaper than getting my old ones re chromed.

Interior
Roof Linning
I had the roof lining completely rebuilt in light grey vinyl, which was a big job as they had to take out all the windows to complete the job.
Seats
Also the both the front a rear seats were rebuilt and recovered. The original interior was red so I had the seat recovered in red leather which really sets the cars interior off.

Dashboard
The centre console and dashboard needed to be rebuilt and I was lucky mine was still in good condition.
Dashboard Re-builder Dashboard Centre
Carpet
I fully replaced the carpet, which is a red plush pile.

Steering Wheel
I fitted an abarth steering wheel, its the traditional black 3 spoke in leather. They are a great wheel perfect design and look great. Make sure you get an original the fake American ones are slightly off center.

Wheels
Chromodora six slot 6x13 wheels were a special order on the 124 coupe's. The were ordered mainly for competition use, they are rare and if located very expensive. I was lucky, found these as new old stock in the USA and had them shipped over.

Differential
Have just added a heavy duty 3.9 L.S.D to a new coupe CC project, and this diff really knows how to grip. What ever the outcome, the diff provides positive drive to both rear wheels, and that's what we all need.

As we all know the fiat 124 coupe diff is hopeless, it just simply breaks under load. Also the gear ratio is just to high, you put your foot down and the next thing you know you need second. Its just to much, in most cases you can simply start off in second. For this reason I went for the 3.9 ratio, it just means I have longer legs in 1st, I can rev it out allot longer. Well now it's time to hit the road, and let all those other hot 4's eat my dust.

Gearbox
I installed a fiat abarth 131 racing gearbox with the remote shifter. It has been fantastic, gear changers are quick and precise. The original 124 gearbox kept breaking on me, they are known for their weakness.

Suspension
I replaced all the shocks with Koni Sports, I have used them in the past and them to be the best on the market. They come with a lifetime warranty.
Koni Shocks Toperformance
The original springs where no good so I opted for some lowered king springs, great quality and performance. They lowered the car just right, I find lowering the coupe anymore than a inch up front just makes the handling worse. front = KFFL-60 / rear = KFRL-61
Springs King Springs
All bushes were replaced with Nolathane Bushes, they tend to give a more controlled feeling to the handling of the car.
Most steering components where replaced, ball joints, idler arms ect...
Brakes
Disc's

I installed slotted disc brakes up front and at the rear...
DBA 160 SL & SR (slotted left & right handed).
